What to check before a domain transfer

A buyer and seller checklist before a .com moves. Sleekdomains is not the registrar, a request is not a transfer, and the registrar steps are not defined yet. The seller payout target is 5 business days after payment clears and the transfer is confirmed.

Updated 22 October 2026.

This is a checklist of what to confirm before money moves. The transfers page is the shorter statement of what Sleekdomains does today. The two pages are not the same: the product page says what the marketplace will and will not do, and this one is the list to take into that conversation.

Before you send a request

  • The name on the form is the exact .com you mean, including the spelling you checked on the listing.
  • You know the asking price, or the offer amount you are sending. Write it down outside the form.
  • You know that the form does not charge a card and does not move the name.
  • You have an email address you will still be able to read when the reply arrives. There are no accounts.

What this marketplace will do

  • Record the request and reply by email to confirm the price and how payment will be arranged.
  • For a seller submission, look up a DNS TXT record if an admin asks for one. A match shows that the record is present. It does not publish the name and it does not transfer it.
  • Show a for-sale page when a catalog name’s DNS points at this site. That page is a landing page. It is not a change of owner.

What is still undefined

Auth codes, which account the name moves into, who starts the transfer, and how long a transfer may take are not written. The payout target is within 5 business days after the buyer's payment clears and the registrar transfer is confirmed. This is a target, not a guarantee. The payout method is not defined. The transfers page says the same thing and does not fill the registrar gaps. A registrar can also refuse a transfer for its own reasons, such as a lock. That refusal is the registrar’s rule. Sleekdomains does not publish a lock period of its own.

Questions worth asking in the email thread, because this site does not answer them on the listing:

  • Which registrar holds the name today?
  • Is the name locked, and who will unlock it?
  • Who provides the auth code, and to which account should the name be pushed or transferred?
  • What has to happen before the seller is paid?

Do not assume funds are held

Escrow.com is the provider this project researched. It is not connected. The marketplace does not hold the purchase price, and there is no transfer guarantee. If someone describes the request as an escrow checkout, that description is wrong for this version.

If the move stalls

Use the contact form and choose “A transfer”. Keep the exact domain, the price you agreed, and the email thread. A reply is support. It is not a completed transfer and it is not a refund. Refund rules are still a draft on the purchase and refund page.
