How rent-to-own prices work

How a Sleekdomains rent-to-own price is calculated from the listed 24-month amount, with a 0% buyer fee. Default, payoff, and refund terms are not written yet.

Updated 22 October 2026.

Rent-to-own here means a schedule of monthly amounts toward a listed name. The buyer fee is 0%. A rent-to-own submission is a request. It does not charge a card and it does not start the schedule.

The formula

  • Terms run from 6 to 48 months, in steps of 6. The name page lists every one of those terms.
  • At 24 months, the monthly amount is the listed 24-month price. It is not recalculated.
  • For any other term, multiply that listed monthly price by 24, divide by the term, and round to the nearest dollar. That result is the monthly amount. The total is the monthly amount times the number of months.
  • The page also shows the dollar difference and the percent difference versus the buy-now price. Both are that arithmetic. They are not a sale and not a market comparison.

One catalog name, so the arithmetic is checkable

payarmor.com lists $4,000 to buy now and $192 per month at 24 months. Those are the catalog prices. Applying the formula to a 12-month term gives $384 per month and $4,608 in total. This is an example of the formula on a real listing. It is not a recommendation and not a comparable sale.

What you pay, and what you do not

You pay the monthly amount for the term you request. The buyer fee is not added on top. The seller commission on rent-to-own is 5% of the Buy Now price, not of the payment total. It is deducted from the payments as they come in until that commission is satisfied. How each payment is split is pending legal review. It is not a buyer fee. The pricing page uses a $2,000 illustration for the standard 5%, $100, leaving $1,900. That illustration is not a listed asking price.

A seller listing shows rent-to-own only when the seller entered a 24-month monthly price. If that price is missing, the name page does not offer the schedule.

Terms that are not written yet

The draft rent-to-own terms leave these unset. This guide does not invent them:

  • default
  • cancellation
  • early payoff
  • refunds
  • down payment
  • extra charges
  • when ownership transfers
  • how each incoming rent-to-own payment is split until the seller commission is satisfied

A seller whose first listing is submitted on or before January 31, 2027 (America/New_York) pays 0% on sales completed within 6 months of that listing's approval date, then 5%. A seller whose first listing is submitted after that date pays 5%. The 0% window does not start until that first listing is approved. A rent-to-own request does not by itself complete a sale, so it does not start or end that window. Until the open terms are written, do not treat a request as a promise that the name transfers on a particular payment.

The same calculator is on the pricing page and on each name that offers rent-to-own. If a figure on this page and a figure on the name page ever disagree, the name page is using the same module. Refresh and compare the term. Do not average them.
